FA Cup champions Arsenal are on the verge of completing their move for Chelsea winger Willian, according to reports.
The 31-year-old star has reportedly turned down the chance to extend his stay at the Stamford Bridge Stadium beyond the recently concluded campaign and his close to joining Mikel Arteta’s side.
Football London revealed on Monday that the Brazilian star is close to reaching a deal with the North London club and his switch could be finalized this week.
Should things go on as planned for the Gunners, Willian will become the second Brazil international to dump the Blues for the Emirate outfit following David Luiz’s departure prior to the start of the 2019-20 season.
This will come as very good news to many Arsenal fans who have followed the player’s recent performances for the West London outfit.
He was in consistent form after the return of the league from coronavirus-enforced break as he scored three consecutive goals before the end of the campaign.
The fact that the North London club will be getting the star man on a free transfer deal also means they have nothing to lose should he fail to live up to expectations.
Since joining Chelsea in 2013, Willian has found the back of the net on 37 occasions having featured in 234 matches.
