Why 21-year-old Star Should Worry Over The Proposed Return of Manchester United’s Forward

Manchester United’s striker Odion Ighalo surprisingly put an end to his international career last year after leading the Super Eagles to a third-place finish at the AFCON 2019 tournament in Egypt.

The former Watford striker was deadly in front of goal as he scored five goals to win the tournament’s top scorer’s award.

Since his retirement, Barcelona and Tottenham-linked forward Victor Osimhen has been doing great in front of goal.

The 21-year-old has successfully occupied the void created by Ighalo’s departure having scored four goals in eight matches for Gernot Rohr’s team.

However, report that emanated from the West Africa’s powerhouse suggested that the Manchester United striker is considering a return to the international scene having settled his club’s future with the Old Trafford outfits.

Ighalo, while speaking with Busy Buddies, revealed that there is a possibility of rescinding his initial decision, which means he could be available for selection when international football returns after COVID-19 pandemic.

Though Osimhen said that he has no problem with Ighalo’s proposed decision to return to the Super Eagles team, the youngster will obviously fall down the pecking order when that happens.

Gernot Rohr is obviously has a great love for Ighalo and won’t hesitate to reintegrate him into the starting lineup ahead of the in-form Lille forward.

Osimhen fast-paced growth in Nigeria national team will surely come to an abrupt halt as he would be forced to understudy the Shanghai Shenua-owned striker once again.

As much as seeing Ighalo in the team is a great development to Rohr and Nigeria football, it might harm the development of a very great, versatile and deadly goal-poacher Victor Osimhen.
